ButterflyMX is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and oversee the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll. This role is responsible for managing the full payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and collaborating closely with HR and Accounting to streamline processes. The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong analytical skills, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. . Responsibilities. . Ensure the processing of multi-state payroll is accurate and timely. . Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. . Maintain and audit payroll information through collecting, calculating, entering, and uploading data. . Update payroll records, entering changes in exemptions, deductions, employment status, and department/division transfers. . Coordinate with HR to verify employee data. . Recommend ways to improve and automate payroll processes. . Prepare reports, compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. . Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and responding in a timely manner. . Ensure accurate calculation and timely recording of commission and bonus accruals in alignment with company policies and contractual agreements. . Calculate and prepare all journal entries related to payroll activity. . Perform other accounting duties as assigned. . Requirements . . Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. . Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements. . Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy. . High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service oriented. . Demonstrated experience with a ledger system, Sage Intacct highly preferred. . Strong knowledge of general accounting and accounts reconciliation. . Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and complex formulas etc). . Associate or bachelor’s degree. . Proficient in Workday HRIS. . Company Location: United States.
