The Database Designer will play a key role in creating secure, cloud-native architectures, supporting seamless data migration, and enabling reliable operations for millions of end-users. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including developers, data architects, and security engineers to ensure database solutions align with federal security standards and enterprise modernization goals. This position blends hands-on technical work with strategic design, providing high visibility in a mission-critical government program.. . Accountabilities. As a Database Designer, you will:. . Design and implement consolidated Oracle database schemas that unify data from multiple legacy subsystems.. . Develop detailed entity-relationship diagrams, define data types, and establish indexing strategies for high-performance operations.. . Support data mapping and ETL activities to ensure smooth migration from legacy systems to the modernized database.. . Participate in Agile development cycles including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and integrated testing.. . Collaborate with application developers, security engineers, and system administrators to ensure database integration supports overall program goals.. . Implement database access controls and encryption solutions following Zero Trust, DevSecOps, and federal security standards.. . Contribute to technical documentation including data dictionaries, schema specifications, and migration procedures.. . Support code reviews, database testing, and deployment processes following established DevSecOps pipelines.. . . Candidates should have:. . US citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust or IT II Security clearance.. . Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Database Management, or a related field.. . Minimum of 3 years of experience in database design, development, or administration.. . Security+ CE or IAT Level II certification.. . Proficiency with Oracle database systems, SQL/PLSQL development, relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.. . Familiarity with data modeling, entity-relationship diagrams, and ETL processes for data migration.. . Understanding of database security, access control, encryption, and compliance with federal and DoD standards.. . Basic experience with Agile development tools (Jira, GitLab, ServiceNow) and maintaining technical documentation.. . Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.. . Ability to work effectively in fast-paced Agile environments and adapt to evolving technical requirements.. . Preferred Qualifications:. . Experience with cloud-native database architectures and Microsoft Azure environments.. . Familiarity with FedRAMP IL5 hosting requirements and compliance frameworks.. .
