We are currently looking for a Language Access Coordinator / Mixteco Interpreter (On-call) in California (USA).. This dynamic, on-call role offers a meaningful opportunity to ensure equitable access to healthcare services for patients with limited English proficiency. As a trilingual interpreter and coordinator, you will deliver Mixteco-English-Spanish interpretation while also improving and managing systems that support language accessibility. The position combines direct interpretation work with administrative responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration to optimize workflows, technology use, and vendor relationships. Ideal for someone deeply committed to equity, cultural responsiveness, and community health.. Accountabilities:. . Provide accurate and compassionate Mixteco-English-Spanish interpretation for all services across multiple locations. . Coordinate the full spectrum of language support services, including in-person and remote interpretation. . Build and manage interpreting schedules, ensuring prompt fulfillment of on-demand and scheduled needs. . Oversee workflows, resources, and vendor relationships related to interpretation and translation services. . Monitor the experience of LEP (Limited English Proficiency) patients through surveys and reporting, and implement improvements accordingly. . Deliver training and guidance to staff on language access practices and cultural humility. . Lead the integration of technological tools to improve interpretation and translation capabilities. . Act as a liaison between internal departments and external language service providers, including contract and billing coordination. . Maintain clear, empathetic, and effective communication with staff, patients, and partners, while upholding privacy and HIPAA compliance. . Support internal teams with communication tools and patient access strategies. . Routinely collect feedback and suggest improvements to enhance patient and staff experience. . . Fluent in Mixteco, Spanish, and English (trilingual proficiency required). . High school diploma or GED required; AA degree preferred. . Prior experience as a professional interpreter and/or working in healthcare preferred. . Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. . Technologically adept with Microsoft Office and remote communication platforms. . Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. . Strong customer service orientation and ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment. . Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation for site-to-site travel. .
