
RAN Engineer Ericsson at CED Systems. CED Systems is seeking an experienced Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to provide remote engineering support for our client T-Mobile's nationwide 5G network infrastructure utilizing Ericsson equipment, including macro network, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and in-building solutions. This remote position offers the opportunity to work with the nation's largest 5G network while contributing to network performance, reliability, and exceptional wireless connectivity for millions of customers in venues, stadiums, arenas, commercial buildings, and across the macro network. This role requires US-based candidates.. Your responsibilities will include:. Network Operations & Optimization. Configure, integrate, and optimize Ericsson RAN equipment including eNodeB (4G LTE), gNodeB (5G NR), baseband units (BBU), and radio units across multiple spectrum bands (600 MHz, mid-band 2.5 GHz, and mmWave 28/39 GHz). Support Distributed Antenna System (DAS) deployments and integration with Ericsson RAN infrastructure for high-capacity venues including stadiums, arenas, convention centers, airports, and commercial buildings. Configure and optimize in-building solutions using various DAS platforms including SOLiD, CommScope, JMA Wireless (formerly ADRF), and small cell technologies. Perform remote and on-site integration of new network elements using Ericsson Network Manager (ENM) platform. Monitor and optimize network performance through analysis of KPIs, drive test data, and performance metrics for both macro and in-building networks. Execute network parameter optimization to enhance coverage, capacity, and quality of service in challenging RF environments. Support network carrier aggregation, VoLTE, VoNR (Voice over New Radio), and ViNR implementations across all network layers. Technical Implementation & Troubleshooting. Lead software and hardware upgrades for RAN equipment following T-Mobile's deployment standards. Troubleshoot end-to-end cellular technology issues including radio network performance degradation in macro, DAS, and small cell environments. Analyze network logs, alarm data, and system traces to isolate and resolve complex technical problems across multiple network layers. Support DAS system commissioning, optimization, and troubleshooting for passive and active DAS architectures. Work with venue-specific deployments addressing high user density scenarios during major events (concerts, sporting events, conferences). Conduct field trials and proof-of-concept testing for new features, technologies, and DAS solutions. Support 5G Standalone (SA) network architecture deployment and migration activities. Implement advanced features including network slicing, SON (Self-Organizing Networks), and 5G Advanced capabilities. Interface with DAS vendors (SOLiD, CommScope, JMA Wireless/ADRF) for technical coordination and issue resolution. Planning & Documentation. Participate in RAN infrastructure planning to ensure scalability and meet future growth requirements for macro and venue networks. Provide technical input for DAS and in-building solution designs, including coverage analysis and capacity planning. Create and maintain technical documentation including network designs, DAS integration guides, configuration standards, and operational procedures. Prepare test plans, test cases, and validation reports for new software releases, features, and venue deployments. Coordinate with field engineers, network planners, operations teams, DAS vendors, and Ericsson development units. Support customer acceptance processes and ensure compliance with T-Mobile's network standards and venue-specific requirements. Collaboration & Support. Act as liaison between T-Mobile operations, CED Systems project teams, Ericsson product teams, and field support personnel. Provide technical guidance and support to client operations and field teams. Participate in on-call rotation to provide remote 24/7 network support as needed. Coordinate with transport, core, and IT teams for end-to-end service delivery. Deliver professional consulting services aligned with CED Systems and client standards. Education & Expierence . Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in RAN deployment, integration, and optimization. Proven experience with Ericsson RAN equipment and network architecture (GSM/UMTS/LTE/5G NR). 2+ years of experience with DAS and in-building wireless solutions. Hands-on experience with DAS platforms from major OEMs: SOLiD, CommScope (ION-M, OneCell), JMA Wireless (formerly ADRF HDAP), or similar systems. Experience with venue deployments including stadiums, arenas, convention centers, airports, or large commercial buildings. Experience providing remote engineering support or consulting services preferred. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Technical Skills . Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards and protocols (5G-NR, LTE, VoLTE, VoNR). Proficiency with Ericsson Network Manager (ENM) platform for configuration, fault management, and performance monitoring. Understanding of radio frequency (RF) principles, propagation, antenna systems, and cellular network design. Experience with DAS architecture including passive DAS, active DAS, hybrid systems, and fiber distribution. Knowledge of DAS components: master units, remote units, combiners, splitters, couplers, and antenna systems. Familiarity with small cell solutions and their integration with macro networks. Experience with LTE/5G interfaces (S1, X2, NG, Xn, F1, E1) and protocol stacks. Knowledge of IP networking, routing protocols, and transport technologies (microwave, fiber, Ethernet). Familiarity with network planning tools (Atoll, iBwave, Mentum, or similar). Experience with drive test equipment and analysis tools (TEMS, Nemo, or equivalent). Understanding of venue-specific RF challenges including capacity management, interference mitigation, and high-density scenarios. Preferred Qualifications. Ericsson technical certifications (ENM Operations, RAN Implementation, or equivalent). DAS vendor certifications (SOLiD, CommScope, JMA Wireless/ADRF). Experience with T-Mobile network acceptance processes and standards. Knowledge of Python scripting and Robot Framework for test automation. Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins) and network automation. Understanding of Cloud RAN, O-RAN architecture, and virtualization concepts. Familiarity with 5G Advanced features including AI/ML optimization, massive MIMO, and beamforming. Experience with multi-vendor network environments (Nokia, Samsung). iBwave or similar DAS design tool proficiency.
