Head of Health & Safety - Centre of Excellence at Biffa Waste Services. A quick look at the role. Head of Health & Safety.  for our newly established Centre of Excellence. You will play a leading role, as part of the Health & Safety Leadership team delivering progressive and impactful change in a growing business where being good at Health & Safety isn’t enough..  . Waste and Recycling is a challenging but rewarding industry and the need for the Health & Safety profession to innovate to keep people safer has never been greater. We are looking for someone with that innovative approach who can demonstrate that they can make things happen, and help make our workplaces safer.. .. Your core responsibilities. . We are a large and complex organisation, so your technical knowledge and analytical skills will need to be matched by your ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to get things done, on time and to budget.. . The Centre of Excellence is responsible for our policies, standards, governance and assurance so . experience.  of how to optimise a Health & Safety management system to serve the operational business . and.  comply with ISO45001 is a key requirement.. . Lead, coach, inspire and drive a team of H&S Managers and Advisors to deliver great work. . Delivering meaningful improvements in Health & Safety is 80% sell but only 20% tell. This means that you will need to be an excellent communicator and skilled in developing effective and novel ways of delivering key messages to c11,000 people.. . You don’t need to have worked in Waste & Recycling, but you will need to understand the realities of controlling risks in high-hazard, fast-paced working environments ideally in a large, national organisation. . .. Our essential requirements. . Level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (Level 6 Diploma preferred). . Certified Member of IOSH (Chartered preferred). . Experience working at 'Head of' level, ideally as part of a leadership team reporting into a Group H&S Director. . Experience of using and developing systems such as EcoOnline to deliver measurable benefit to the business would be useful. . .. Biffa – we’re changing the way people think about waste.
