
Chief Underwriting Officer (Insurance) - Work from home | Midshift at Twoconnect. An international insurance group is seeking a Chief Underwriting Officer to lead its global underwriting strategy. The role will drive profitability through effective pricing, policy governance, and market innovation. You will advise the Board, mentor underwriting leaders, and help shape the company’s growth and culture.. Strategic Leadership & Business Direction. Provide strategic direction to key stakeholders to ensure effective product pricing and development. . Advise the Board on strategic approaches using data-driven insights and sound statistical analysis. . Innovate and create proposals for change to strengthen market competitiveness and profitability. . Develop and implement corporate philosophy, fostering cultural change as part of the executive leadership team. . Pricing & Market Analysis. Develop pricing strategies based on competitive benchmarking and statistical analysis of key performance indicators (e.g., loss ratio, price, and sales). . Monitor competitor activities and market trends to anticipate and respond to changes effectively. . Liaise with the MIS team to ensure system and data needs are met for pricing and underwriting analysis. . Policy, Compliance & Risk Management. Direct policy wording changes and ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal standards. . Oversee the development and maintenance of underwriting policies, procedures, and standards, including fraud management, arson prevention, risk management, and reinsurance. . Keep abreast of regulatory changes impacting pricing, products, and policy wording. . Provide technical advice on complex underwriting matters and make decisions on risks referred by subordinate underwriters. . People Development & Succession Planning. Train new pricing underwriters and ensure robust succession planning. . Collaborate with the broader underwriting team to strengthen technical capability and operational effectiveness. . Financial & Operational Oversight. Prepare expense forecasts and monitor budget performance. . Support marketing efforts and strengthen the company’s industry reputation by fostering effective relationships with customers, underwriters, intermediaries, and partners. . Work closely with relevant teams to develop procedure manuals with defined review cycles for Board approval. . At least 10 years of proven experience in a senior underwriting leadership role within general or specialty insurance, ideally at a regional or global level.. Strong analytical background with expertise in pricing, risk assessment, and loss ratio management.. Demonstrated ability to influence and advise executive stakeholders and board members.. In-depth understanding of insurance regulations, policy wording, and compliance standards.. Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills across diverse teams and markets..
