
Senior Accountant (Part-Time) at VBA. JOB SUMMARY. As Vision Benefits of America (VBA) continues to enjoy unprecedented growth, we have a business need to expand internal accounting and finance skills. The Senior Accountant will participate in a wide range of accounting duties, including the month-end close process, filling a crucial role in oversight of premium tax compliance, producing internal financial reporting to management, maintenance of sound internal controls, and audit support. An orientation to meeting deadlines and a focus on detail to produce quality work are critical for success in this role. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. . . ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS. Collaborate with accounts receivable team to resolve escalated issues and improve processes to include but not limited to the following:. . . Prepare payment analyses upon request from customers. . Research past due customer balances. . . Prepare tax filings including insurance premium tax and sales/use tax. . Complete monthly accounting close tasks including but not limited to, monthly general ledger journal entries, monthly financial statements, and monthly reports for customers or business partners. . Assist with external audits by preparing reconciliations or other supporting documentation. . Designated back up for monthly claims payment processing including reviewing process documentation, making suggestions for process improvement, and running the process to validate the instructions at least two times per year. . Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and automation in accounting workflows. . Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees. . Perform activities and functions of related lower-level personnel as assigned or required. . Salary Range: $35-40 per hour (contingent upon experience and qualifications) working 20-24 (less than 30) hours per week. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS. (include but are not limited to). QUALIFICATIONS. Associate’s degree in accounting or related field, Bachelor’s preferred. Experience: at least 3-5 years in accounting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES. Familiarity with accounting software (ERP) programs required. Expert user of Microsoft Office. High accuracy and detail-oriented. Excellent written communication. Professional judgment as it relates to interpreting accounting principles, tax regulations and policies. Team player with a commitment to continuous improvement.
