Online Math Tutor at BookNook. BookNook is seeking passionate educators to join our tutoring community as independent contractors, working up to 30 hours per week. BookNook tutors are on the front lines of working to close the opportunity gap for K-8 students during a key period of their educational journey. . Our online tutors conduct live, synchronous online tutoring sessions using the BookNook platform and video conferencing software. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct, positive impact on students on their path to achieving success in Math.. BookNook tutors must reside in and work from the United States and have a US mailing address. . Conduct virtual tutoring sessions in Math using the BookNook platform. Lessons for math sessions include inquiry-based instruction, with a strong focus on explicit instruction. Curriculum and content will be provided within the platform.. . Manage student behavior and engagement throughout sessions.. . Create a safe, respectful learning environment.. . Maintain positive relationships with students throughout the entire schedule of the program.. . Document observations for each session.. . . Must be at least 18 years old. . Knowledge of and experience in mathematical best practices, specifically for intervention and assisting students struggling with mathematics.. . Commitment to teaching in alignment with the provided curriculum lesson design, structure, and strategies.. . Access to a computer (laptop or desktop), webcam, clean and distraction-free environment, and reliable, high-speed internet connection with a speed of at least 20 mbps is a necessity for the position.. .
