Accountabilities:. · Lead the design, development, and improvement of end-to-end checkout flows and payment workflow capabilities.. · Establish scalable design patterns and standardized interfaces to reduce bespoke work and simplify extensions.. · Drive technical excellence through high-signal code reviews, mentorship, and documentation to multiply team productivity.. · Partner with product, design, commercial, and platform teams to align priorities, communicate tradeoffs, and maintain focus on strategic initiatives.. · Evaluate vendor solutions and platform abstractions to reduce cost and complexity.. · Advocate for reliability, observability, and maintainability of payment systems.. · Implement operating practices that reduce thrash and increase team focus and trust with stakeholders.. · 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong backend focus (APIs, services, event-driven systems).. · Proven experience as a force multiplier—raising standards, mentoring engineers, and improving cross-team productivity.. · Experience leading large-scale initiatives, refactors, or complex projects; familiarity with workflow/rules engines or financial correctness systems is a plus.. · Skilled at balancing near-term deliverables with long-term investments, with clear communication of tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners.. · Strong accountability, comfort with ambiguity, and motivation to improve complex financial systems.. · Experience in payments systems is a plus but not required.. · Proficiency in relevant programming languages and backend technologies; cloud experience preferred..
