This remote opportunity is ideal for professionals experienced in healthcare documentation, audits, or medical records management. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting a high-impact CMS audit initiative by retrieving and reviewing sensitive patient documentation from provider offices. It offers a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment where accuracy, follow-up, and HIPAA compliance are essential. This is a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension and includes competitive hourly compensation.. Accountabilities:. . Make outbound calls to provider offices to request missing or incomplete medical records for CMS audit compliance.. . Review and assess patient charts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with formatting requirements.. . Upload records into internal and external audit platforms, maintaining confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards.. . Track and manage retrieval statuses, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding documentation.. . Collaborate with audit teams to organize, label, and prepare documentation in line with audit protocols.. . Contribute to compliance and quality assurance initiatives through reporting and data organization.. . . Minimum of 1 year of experience handling or retrieving medical records, preferably in an audit or compliance setting.. . Skilled at making professional outbound calls to provider offices and securing required documentation.. . Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and handling of confidential patient information.. . Familiarity with CMS Risk Adjustment audits or similar healthcare audits is a plus.. . Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).. . Experience using audit tools such as PEGA is advantageous.. .
