As Data Engineer, you will lead on building a robust, scalable, and high‑quality data foundation that supports analytics, reporting, and product decision‑making across the organisation. . Your role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining end‑to‑end data infrastructure - including ingestion, transformation, modelling, and delivery — ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and optimised for business use. You will partner with Data Analysts, Engineering, Client Services, and other teams to translate business needs into technical solutions that enable high‑quality decision‑making. . The priority for this role is to build and maintain scalable pipelines, enforce data quality and governance, and deliver high‑performance data systems that support analytical workloads and operational processes across [region]. . You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Data Analysts, and operational teams on shared data initiatives and development of the data ecosystem roadmap. . Establish and maintain data quality checks, validation processes, and governance standards. . Ensure consistent documentation across data sources, pipelines, and models. . Maintain transparency and visibility of data lineage and data definitions. . Data Pipeline Development & Modelling . Build scalable ingestion, transformation, and normalisation pipelines across multiple internal systems. . Develop clean, well‑structured data models optimised for analysis and reporting. . Implement pipelines in Java, Python, or Scala. . Manage both batch and (ideally) streaming data processes. . Data Access & Delivery (APIs & Feeds) . Build APIs and data‑delivery mechanisms that provide fast and reliable access to analytics and reporting. . Collaborate with Data Analysts to ensure data products are consumable and business‑ready. . Develop ingestion APIs and solutions for importing external or client data. . Own and maintain data feeds, ensuring timely fixes and high reliability. . Performance & Database Optimisation . Improve data accessibility, query performance, and overall database efficiency. . Work closely with Engineering on architectural improvements and best practices. . Monitor and tune performance across data pipelines and storage layers. . Impact & Roadmap Support . Model and analyse the impact of product or engineering roadmap items. . Provide input into prioritisation and technical planning. . Support strategic and operational decision‑making with data‑driven insights. . Scalable Infrastructure & DevOps . Design, operate, and maintain scalable data infrastructure in AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms). . Apply engineering best practices including CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, monitoring, and automation. . Ensure data platforms follow high‑availability and fault‑tolerant patterns. . Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. . Minimum 5 years’ experience building data pipelines using Java, Python, or Scala. . Familiarity with frameworks such as Spark or Pandas. . Experience handling batch and ideally stream processing. . Proven ability to build APIs and data‑integration solutions. . Extensive experience with SQL for transformations, validation, and optimising analytical workloads. . Fluent in English with strong communication skills. . ROLE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: . Record of success in data engineering, including pipeline development and infrastructure design. . Knowledge and expertise in SQL, Python, Java/Scala, Spark, Pandas, and AWS/cloud architecture. . Demonstrated ability to apply engineering best practices (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, automation). . Ability to promote data quality, governance, and documentation standards. . Strong problem‑solving, optimisation, and analytical abilities. . Ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders. .
