Working behind the scenes with stakeholders in Europe and Asia to identify critical climate issues where action to date has been limited and the potential for collaboration is high. . . Bringing together renowned experts and new entrants to share ideas, and design and deliver creative campaigns that secure decisive changes in national and regional policy to deliver sectoral tipping points and secure significant emissions reductions. . . Advising on strategy, offering grants and bringing creative communications, advocacy and business expertise to build power across the climate community and catalyse action. . . To date, we’ve used this model successfully to mobilise the business community in support of the EU Nature Restoration Law, the first legislation for peatlands protection across Europe, and spark collective action in India that led to commitment from the Ministry of Steel to develop a green steel policy.. In Indonesia, our steel decarbonisation programme focusses on building evidence and narrative on decarbonisation and economic growth, and inspiring private sector action.. About the role. We’re looking for a Policy Engagement Manager with the core objective of working with our partners to engage with key stakeholders in the government and the industry to promote the importance of decarbonisation of the steel sector not only towards reducing emissions but also business and economic growth. . This role will engage with policy makers, policy influencers, and the private sector including steel companies, industry associations, labor unions, financial institutions. Using existing research done by many organisations, they will disseminate the urgency of a sound regulatory framework, the business case for decarbonisation and its investment, as well as convene stakeholders for advocating policies and identify sustainable finance mechanisms.. What you will do. The main responsibilities of this role include:. . Build relationships of trust with key stakeholders in the government and the private sector. . . Synthesise our findings, other existing reports to develop compelling materials such as briefs, slide decks, articles, that embed our core narratives  for dissemination to policy makers and industry stakeholders. . . Create and implement engagement plans with key policy makers and their influencers to present our findings and recommend policies. . . Convene the private sector to solicit and recommend the right policies that enable decarbonisation.. . Participate in events to build our network of policy makers and policy influencers. . . Convene industry players and financial institutions to identify sustainable finance solutions for decarbonisation. . . Engage with steel companies to both disseminate business cases as well as extract learnings on challenges and opportunities. . . What You Would Bring . . Experience in building high-trust relationships in the government and the industry.. . Strong communication skills, able to present and carry out conversations with policy makers and industry players.  . . Strong skill and experience on synthesising information from reports and other sources into presentable and compelling materials, customised for target audiences. . . A depth of understanding of climate issues and its policy landscape in Indonesia. . . Knowledge on heavy industry decarbonisation particularly iron and steel is a significant plus. . . A network of climate related policy makers in the government is a plus. . . A network of steel companies, associations, banks, and other financial institutions is a plus. . . Experienced and comfortable working across various regions, timezones, and cultures.. . Native proficiency in Indonesian, professional working proficiency in English.. .
