Engineering Manager at Neo.Tax. Job Summary:. We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about leading teams to build innovative tax solutions. This role will oversee the engineering team and be responsible for mentoring engineers, driving project deliverables, and ensuring the highest standards of software quality are maintained. If you have a background in software engineering and have hands-on experience with technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python, and GraphQL, we want to hear from you!. P.S.. We are a remote company, but we prefer to hire in time zones that can overlap with our HQ in Mountain View, CA! We hire both in the U.S. and Canada.. Responsibilities:. • Lead and mentor a team of engineers on software development best practices and technology adoption. (This role is not just project management—it's also people management.). • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. You would work closely with our product manager to achieve these goals.. • Facilitate and assist engineers with their individual contributor tasks. (We expect this role to be somewhat hands-on; you won't be writing very much code at all, but you will be reading code and occasionally reviewing pull requests.). • Collaborate with our product manager and other stakeholders to define the technical scope, system architecture, and set priorities for projects in the product roadmap.. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to enhance their skills and advance their careers.. • Facilitate communication and collaboration within the engineering team and cross-functional teams.. • Implement strategies for enhancing team performance and productivity.. • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies to ensure the team is using best practices.. Preferred Qualifications:. • Proven experience managing and leading engineering teams. • Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies. • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD. Experience with Terraform and CircleCI is a plus.. • Experience with modern web technologies including TypeScript, React, and GraphQL is a plus. • Experience with modern technology stacks/tools, such as Vercel, Neon, Tailscale, and serverless cloud solutions.. • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • 7+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus in both front-end and back-end technologies. • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role. • Strong technical background with experience in software architecture and design. • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. • Proven track record of successfully delivering software projects on time and within budget. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to support and promote a positive team culture.
