
Sales Tax Consultant at Staff4Me. We are seeking a proactive, client-focused . Sales Tax Consultant . to lead client onboarding, foster satisfaction, and ensure compliance with multi-state sales tax regulations. This position requires a balance of technical tax expertise and outstanding communication skills, particularly in managing sensitive or complex client updates. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who thrives in a client-facing role and is passionate about delivering value through accuracy, insight, and empathy.. Key Responsibilities. Client Onboarding & Relationship Management. • Lead the onboarding process, including welcome calls, document collection, system setup, and client training. • Act as the primary liaison for client communication through calls, email, and virtual meetings. • Identify opportunities to improve client experience and recommend process enhancements. Sales Tax Compliance & Technical Support. • Stay current with multi-state sales tax laws and regulatory changes. • Advise clients on tax liability, exemption management, nexus, and compliance risks. Consultative Engagement & Upselling. • Identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities during onboarding and ongoing support. • Monitor client satisfaction and work with internal teams to enhance service offerings. Communication of Sensitive Matters. • Deliver difficult updates such as penalties, delays, or non-compliance issues with tact and professionalism. • Follow defined communication protocols and escalate concerns to leadership or legal teams when necessary. • Build trust through thoughtful, solution-oriented communication. Collaboration & Process Management. • Partner cross-functionally with legal, tax, finance, and IT departments. • Escalate complex technical or regulatory cases appropriately. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal workflows and customer service protocols. Schedule-Monday to Friday, 9AM – 5PM EST. Sales Tax Experience. - Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with filings, audits, nexus, or exemption processes. • . Client-Facing Experience . - At least 5 years in customer-focused roles such as onboarding, customer success, or consulting. • . Technical Skills- . Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook), email communication, and remote tools (Zoom, Teams, Slack). •. Communication . -Excellent written and verbal communication with a talent for navigating sensitive conversations. • . Adaptability-. Ability to learn internal systems quickly; no prior experience with tax specific platforms required. • .
