The Senior Database Designer will lead the consolidation of multiple legacy systems into a modernized, cloud-ready Oracle database environment, serving millions of end-users. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, DevSecOps, and government stakeholders, to ensure robust data architecture, governance, and migration strategies. This position emphasizes secure data management, performance tuning, and adherence to federal compliance standards, offering opportunities to shape enterprise-level database systems and support mission-critical modernization initiatives.. . Accountabilities. As a Senior Database Designer, you will:. . Lead the development of a unified database architecture integrating data from multiple legacy systems into a single Oracle-based structure.. . Design comprehensive database schemas, create entity-relationship diagrams, and define normalization strategies.. . Implement secure data access controls at row, column, and cell levels, supporting data masking for sensitive identifiers.. . Collaborate with software engineers, DevSecOps teams, and stakeholders to ensure database structure aligns with modular application deployment.. . Develop and maintain Oracle 19c or newer database systems with advanced performance tuning, indexing, and normalization.. . Support ETL processes, secure data migration pipelines, and maintain data mappings between legacy and modernized structures.. . Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and sprint planning, ensuring database deliverables meet project goals.. . Assist in integration testing, validation of database performance, and ongoing optimization of the environment.. . The ideal candidate will have:. . US citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust or IT II Security clearance.. . Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Database Management, or a related field.. . Minimum 7 years of experience in senior database design and architecture roles.. . Proficiency in Oracle 19c or newer, advanced PL/SQL programming, and database optimization techniques.. . Experience in relational database normalization, performance tuning, indexing, and schema design.. . Knowledge of ETL processes, secure data migration, and Oracle GoldenGate or similar platforms.. . Understanding of database access control, encryption, and federal compliance frameworks (FISMA, FedRAMP).. . Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills for effective collaboration in Agile teams.. .
