Reporting to and working closely with the Korea Fisheries Senior Manager, the Korea Program Coordinator/Manager (dependent on experience) is a dedicated full-time contract position that will play a key role in advancing O2’s sustainable seafood projects in Korea now and into the future. O2 works in partnership with Korean seafood companies, the government, research institutions, and universities on projects that: 1) support companies in obtaining Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, 2) advance adoption of monitoring, control, and surveillance approaches including traceability and electronic monitoring, 3) improve domestic fisheries management policies in Korea, and 4) advance social responsibility and human rights in distant water fisheries. As one of two positions based in Korea, the Coordinator/Manager will be trained by and will share responsibilities with the Korea Fisheries Senior Manager for managing, delivering on, and growing O2’s work in South Korea. This individual will also actively learn from and collaborate with other members of O2 based in Taiwan and in the U.S. working on similar projects. . Key Responsibilities. Working closely with the Korea Fisheries Senior Manager and O2 team members, the Coordinator/Manager will: . . Serve as a liaison between O2 and our seafood company, government, and NGO partners by nurturing relationships with current and prospective partners to advance common goals around sustainability and social responsibility; . . Conduct research and analysis (training provided) needed to support fisheries and seafood improvement projects including those aimed at achieving Marine Stewardship Council certification and improving Korean fisheries management; . . Organize stakeholder meetings to facilitate implementation of current work and to develop potential project and partnership opportunities;. . Provide different types of project management support including project coordination, tracking deliverables, preparing reports, etc.;  . . Develop high-quality communications materials in English and Korean such as blogs and presentations to facilitate engagement with O2’s work in Korea;  . . Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Korea Fisheries Senior Manager including coordinating meetings, event logistics, translation, and interpretation.. . . Excellent written and spoken English and Korean language skills;. . Bachelor’s/university degree in a relevant field; . . Computer skills sufficient to effectively work in a remote, cloud-based environment including the ability to use Google Workplace and online task management platforms such as Asana;. . Ability to live and work in South Korea; . . Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally;. . Ability to work across different time zones including some flexibility for morning and evening meetings/events. . . Skills & Experience . . Energetic and self-directed with a strong work ethic and attention to detail; . . Demonstrated knowledge, interest, or experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainable fisheries certification (e.g., MSC), electronic monitoring and traceability systems, fisheries policy and governance in Korea, and social responsibility and human rights in distant water fisheries;. . Ability to grasp complex scientific concepts and motivation to become proficient in technical aspects of Marine Stewardship Council certification, if not already proficient; . . Ability to function at a high-level in a virtual, multicultural, and international organization;. . Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize tasks, and work independently and with teams to meet deadlines across multiple projects;. . Resourceful, collaborative, and adaptable, with a strong willingness to learn and creatively solve problems;. . Commitment to the health of fisheries and oceans and desire to gain experience in advancing sustainable seafood solutions; . . Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and maintain strong internal/external relationships based on honesty, accountability, integrity, and constructive communication;. . Experience working in fisheries and seafood, international development, environmental, policy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or other related fields with international organizations is a plus; . . Advanced degree in environmental and natural resource conservation, fishery science, business, marketing, international relations, or other related fields is a plus.. . Company Location: South Korea.
