General Counsel at REE Medical. Job Summary:. As the General Counsel, you will serve as the principal legal advisor to REE Medical, providing strategic and tactical guidance across all legal matters. You will oversee and strengthen compliance frameworks, support HR and employment matters, support technology-related initiatives, and ensure legal integrity across all client-facing services and business initiatives — including the BRAVE program. You will be a key member of the executive team, helping mitigate risk, uphold ethical standards, and protect REE’s mission and reputation. .  . . What is expected in this role:. . . Serving as a strategic partner to the President and Executive Leader Team (ELT) on all legal, compliance, and risk-related matters.. . . This means actively advising on corporate governance, contracts, regulatory concerns, and legal implications of strategic initiatives.. . This also means representing the company in legal proceedings and managing external counsel as needed.. . . Overseeing company-wide compliance, federal and state applicable regulations, and any applicable licensing or operational standards.. . Supporting the development of internal policies that align with evolving laws, including data privacy and Veteran services.. . Partnering closely with Compliance, Marketing, and Operations to review marketing claims, service delivery, and documentation standards.. . Supporting the legal infrastructure behind REE’s service lines, including the BRAVE program, ensuring program materials, delivery methods, and outcomes meet ethical and legal standards.. . Mitigating legal risk in client interactions, physician partnerships, and service documentation.. . Ensuring informed consent practices, client disclosures, and contract terms are thorough, fair, and protective.. . Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key contracts, including vendor agreements, physician partnerships, client service terms, etc.. . This includes providing training and guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual obligations and legal best practices.. . Supporting HR in navigating employment law, workplace investigations, policy creation, and risk mitigation as needed. . . Partnering with IT leadership to ensure cybersecurity practices, vendor systems, and data management align with legal standards.. . This means advising on data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA, CCPA, and the secure handling of sensitive client and employee data.. . . This means reviewing IT contracts and SaaS agreements for risk exposure and legal protection.. . This also means supporting incident response planning and ensuring appropriate legal readiness for potential breaches.. . . Managing REE's intellectual properties and statutory filings as needed. . . What you need in this role to be successful:. . Must have a JD from an accredited U.S. law school and be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state, ideally California. . . At least 10 years of progressive legal experience, including in-house counsel or law firm support in healthcare, government, or other highly regulated environments. . . This means you have proven expertise in-house, ideally in healthcare compliance, employment law, corporate governance, or data privacy. . . Experience supporting IT teams and managing legal issues related to cybersecurity, SaaS agreements, and third-party systems is a plus!. . Proven experience providing guidance on topics such as HIPAA, FLSA, ADA, CCPA, FTC, or healthcare services.. . Previous experience supporting remote, multi-state organizations is a plus.. . Familiarity with SaaS platforms, Salesforce, or telehealth service delivery models is a plus.. . Comprehensive knowledge of the law, such as corporate, labor, and appellate law.. . Sound judgment in weighing inputs and evaluating courses of action that adhere to legal requirements and our overall mission.. . Ability to communicate complex legal issues and terms to non-legal stakeholders ranging from internal team members, government entities, media, and the public.. . General understanding of healthcare compliance issues such as Anti-Kickback Statute is a plus. . . Expert level written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of communicating in a remote-first environment and ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and empathy. . . . Experience navigating changing priorities and leading teams through time of change.  . . Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for facilitating effective collaboration across various departments and levels of the organization. Including the ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy and focusing on building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.. . . Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with an eye for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.  . . Ability to think strategically while still maintaining a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized mindset.  . . Proactive thinking, consistently foreseeing and preparing for forthcoming challenges or opportunities.. .
