We are seeking a highly experienced and technically sophisticated Senior Manager, Software Engineering for Payments. . to lead the development of our next-generation payment routing infrastructure. This role is mission-critical to our growth and profitability, responsible for designing and deploying machine learning-powered payment routing systems that optimize for authorization success and transaction cost efficiency.. You’ll partner deeply with Data Science, Product, Finance, and Compliance to deliver intelligent, real-time payment solutions that directly influence revenue and margin performance. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in building scalable, low-latency systems, with experience in payments, financial infrastructure, or fintech platforms.. Key Responsibilities. Architect, implement, and scale an ML-driven payment routing platform capable of real-time transaction decision-making.. Lead a high-performing engineering team through project planning, execution, and iteration.. Collaborate with Data Scientists to integrate and refine model-based feedback loops for continuous system learning and improvement.. Partner with Product and Finance to ensure solutions optimize both customer experience and processing cost.. Own the reliability, scalability, and compliance posture of our payment infrastructure.. Set and enforce technical standards for payment systems design, observability, and system resiliency.. Deliver against measurable impact metrics, including increased payment success rates and reduced refund-related losses.. Experience & Qualifications. 10+ years of backend software engineering experience, plus 5 years in a leadership capacity.. Proven track record building low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.. Prior experience with payments infrastructure (e.g., payment gateways, acquirers, orchestration platforms, etc.).. Familiarity with machine learning applications in production environments is a strong plus.. Deep understanding of transaction risk, payment rails, and regulatory compliance in payments.. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with data and finance teams.. . The pay range for this role is $210,000 - 234,000. .
