As an Underwriter, you’ll play a critical role in Hometap’s home equity investment process, making recommendations on both the homes and homeowners that we work with. The Underwriting team analyzes and digests a broad set of home and homeowner information to assess the risk profile of each application, making investment eligibility recommendations per the standards set out by our underwriting guidelines. This is a great fit for candidates with experience in underwriting, a passion for real estate, and exceptional organizational skills.. What you'll do:. Work closely with our sales and processing teams to quickly and accurately review homeowner applications. Evaluate applicant information and risk against underwriting criteria to ensure application completeness, and make informed investment recommendations. Review and analyze appraisal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines – evaluate comparables, market trends, and property conditions to ensure value is supported. Flag applications for potential concerns with regard to application completeness or risk. Determine eligibility amounts based on an analysis of the information applicant and property information. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of sales and operations associates to complete each application review. What you bring:. Prior underwriting experience . Extraordinary attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, including strong proofreading/fact-checking skills. Excellent judgment – comfortable making recommendations based on a rules rubric, escalating issues and questions as needed. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Comfort handling multiple responsibilities while being proactive in a deadline-oriented environment  . Strong written and verbal communications skills, and a client-oriented approach .
