Senior Staff SDE I at EDB. Location Information: India. About EDB. The world loves Postgres. If you work with developers or data scientists or anyone wrangling data, you’ll probably see a sticker with the tusks and trunk of the Postgres elephant on the lid of a nearby laptop. EDB has a lot to do with that. We’ve been major contributors to Postgres since the beginning, and we are proud to call thousands of boundary-pushing customers our partners. Proud though we are, we are not resting on our laurels. There’s plenty of work to do. The good news is that everything we do will impact Postgres, which is to say that it will impact the world. No pressure. . Role Overview. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer who’ll help build our next generation of database migration software, with a focus on data transport tooling and capabilities. Database migration can be one of the most challenging tasks for a company undergoing a technical transformation, whether it’s “ground to cloud” or from one database technology to another. EDB is building a set of software, based on open-source technology, to make this as smooth and seamless as possible. The ideal candidate is going to possess a combination of deep technical aptitude in the data management space, software development space, and a savvy ability to navigate the myriad migration use cases we need to address.. We are in search of a talented Software Engineer with a strong background in automation, testing, and quality assurance. EDB’s Data Migration and Integration solution leverages databases, event streaming, Cloud Service Provider (CSP) services, and other EDB software to create fault-tolerant and high-performance data solutions. We're looking for candidates who are passionate about exploring cutting-edge literature and technologies in test automation and data engineering to enhance our transactional systems excellence.. In this role, you'll work with EDB's data integration and migration team to deliver next-generation data movement and integrated data platform solutions to our customers. Together, we'll build systems that not only attract customers to Postgres but also amplify the value of their data.. Responsibilities:. Program, and automate code and scripts using TypeScript or Python or Go that power exceptional user experiences by working closely with frontend and backend engineers, designers, and product management. Design, write, and execute automated tests leveraging automation frameworks.. Collaborate with our globally distributed engineering team using tools like GitHub, Jira, and Slack . Participate in all stages of the product development life cycle spanning ideation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operation. Contribute to continuous improvement of our platform through knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team and across EDB organizations. Approach problem-solving with an inquisitive, innovative, and detail-oriented mindset while maintaining a focus on delivering value to our customers. Requirements:. 6+ years' experience in automation using testing tools like Selenium, Playwright, ginkgo, etc. . 4+ years' experience relevant Back-end development experience using Go, JavaScript, Node.js, Java (or other JVM languages), or Python. 3+ years' experience with distributed systems (e.g. database systems, Kubernetes clusters, cloud infrastructure). Proficiency in building production software components (CLIs, services, clients) that interact over HTTP and gRPC. Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (Terraform or other infra-as-code solutions preferred). Comfortable working iteratively in our lightweight Scrum process and open to feedback from others. Calm and methodical approach with good communication skills. Nice to have:. Understanding of the Postgres ecosystem and experience developing against Postgres. Experience with ANTLR. “Full stack” experience into the front-end layer with a basic understanding of React, Vue.js, Typescript. Experience with deploying and operating software on Kubernetes. Strong opinions on the state of data engineering, ML/AI, and data movement solutions or academic literature – and what’s next in the field. Experience with DevOps/SRE responsibilities and have worked in a “you build it, you run it” environment. Experience with logs and metrics integration (Prometheus, Grafana, CSP services). Experience with testing/automation of change-data-capture (CDC) / ETL / ELT systems (Debezium, Fivetran). Experience with Spark, Flink, Hive Metastore (or other metadata/catalog stores).
