Software Engineer III | Middleware at ExtraHop. Location Information: USA. Position Summary. Join the Middleware team as a Software Engineer and help us build a fault-resilient, highly available, and customer-centric platform. In this role you will collaborate with the team to build scalable and secure platform features that enable security and engineering teams to stop threats in their place! Our services and features are written primarily in Python, Golang, TypeScript and React with a focus on security, scalability, stability and type-first design. Our team develops public REST APIs, solves database scalability challenges, implements data migrations, and enables configuration management across our fleet of services.. The R(x) 360 Platform is built on AWS and GCP.  It utilizes Terraform to define Infrastructure-as-Code and our services.  This platform allows us to build native product and service integrations, first-class customer-facing workflows, and high throughput data pipelines. Our goal is to build a reliable platform for customer-facing services while encouraging healthy work-life balance via automated remediation and fault-tolerant designs.. Key Responsibilities. Design, develop, test and maintain backend services written in Go and Python powering ExtraHop’s products.. Contribute to building and improving APIs, database scalability, data migrations, and configuration management across services.. Actively participate in agile development, including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical strategy discussions.. Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to foster a culture of excellence, curiosity and collaborative problem solving.. Troubleshoot production issues and participate in operational support practices to improve stability. Address technical debt proactively, continually improving our codebase and technical stack. Required Qualifications. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of professional backend development experience. Working experience with Go, Python, or an equivalent programming language. Experience in API development, PostgresQL database design or SQL query performance optimization. Familiarity with scaling distributed, highly available systems. Strong problem-solving skills, a self-starter mentality, and a track record of technical ownership.. Clear communication and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced agile environment.. Preferred Qualifications. Experience with Django, FastAPI or another Python web framework. Exposure to cloud platforms and services on AWS or Azure (EKS / RDS / S3 / SQS / EC2 / IAM). The salary range for this role is $145,000 - $160,000 + bonus + benefits
