As a key member of the finance team within a global e-commerce membership organization, the Payments Analyst provides expertise and analysis in the realm of payments. Responsibilities include staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to payments. Additionally, this role analyzes payment data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Payments Analyst develops and implements strategies to enhance payment processes, drive revenue growth, and improve the overall customer experience. The Payments Analyst actively engages in strategic discussions to analyze finance and payment needs, offering data-driven recommendations. This role is integral in shaping the organization's payment strategy.. What You’ll Do. Data Analysis:. Conduct in-depth payment data analysis to identify financial patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities. Analyze payment data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement or optimization. Provide analysis for optimizing payment acceptance and customer billing practices, reducing fraud, and improving customer retention. Strategy Development:. Contribute to the development and implementation of payment strategies aligned with organizational goals. Risk Management:. Assess and manage risks associated with payment processes, including fraud prevention and compliance with regulations. Cross-Functional Collaboration:. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop and implement payment strategies aligned with business goals. Provide training and support to internal teams on payment-related topics to ensure a clear understanding of payment processes and best practices. Industry Knowledge:. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to payments, including emerging technologies and security measures. Payment Process Optimization:. Identify and implement opportunities to optimize payment processes, enhance customer experience, and drive revenue growth. Performance Monitoring:. Monitor and evaluate the performance of payment systems, identifying areas for optimization and efficiency improvement. Communication:. Provide subject matter expertise on payment processing, fraud prevention, compliance, and risk management. Actively participate in strategic discussions, analyzing finance and payments needs, and making data-driven recommendations to shape the organization's payments strategy. Vendor and Partner Collaboration:. Collaborate with internal and external partners, such as payment processors and financial institutions, to ensure seamless integration and efficient payment operations. What We’re Looking For. 2–4+ years of experience in a highly analytical consumer, marketplace, fintech, or similar data-driven business. Proven track record of delivering actionable insights using data. Strong SQL skills for efficient extraction and analysis of data from complex datasets (must-have). Strong visualization skills in PowerBI (preferred), Tableau, Looker, or similar BI tools. Experience with Python is a plus (willingness to learn is important). Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation (experience with MAB is a plus). Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Nice to have: experience in payments, acquirer/processor/payment gateway environments, or high-risk merchant space. Nice to have: experience leveraging AI tools to structure analyses, automate workflows, or support anomaly detection
