This Deputy Chief of Party serves as the key leader for the multi-national level implementation of a very-large institutional grant-funded program or project, which may be implemented solely by Compassion or as part of a consortium of NGOs. This DCOP will lead a large country management team in contextualizing the program model, delivering results aligned with award/grant agreement, and ensuring effective coordination with local partners, a national Steering Committee, the local transition partner, the Institutional Grants Team, and the donor or prime awardee. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills to drive country-level success through subordinate managers and professionals and support a progressive transition or closeout of project operations within a specified timeline. This incumbent will also be accountable to ensure that the program or project aligns to any and all applicable audit requirements from a significant institutional donor as outlined by governing organizations involved as well as meets the strategic objectives of the organization's programmatic model in the impacted countries.. This responsibility includes hiring, terminations, coaching, consultation, and performance management, to achieve strategies and objectives. Program Leadership and Contextualization: Provide high-level strategic direction and oversight to the adaptation and implementation of a program model contextualized to local needs and models in multiple countries and contexts. Ensure project activities align with donor requirements, approved proposals, and sector best practices. Oversee multiple country management teams in contextualizing the program model to fit local needs and cultural contexts while maintaining alignment with negotiated objectives.. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for grant-funded programmatic activities. Build and maintain strategic relationships with host country government stakeholders, faith-based networks, and other local partners to advance project objectives and sustainability across multiple countries and platforms. Facilitate regular coordination with local transition partners and the consortium to ensure seamless project execution and reporting.. Reporting and Compliance: Through subordinate managers, ensure the effective preparation and timely submission of country-specific progress reports for consolidation, review, and approval prior to submission to the donor and/or governing bodies. Ensure compliance with financial and governmental regulations as applicable, consortium agreements, and project policies throughout project implementation. Oversee regular reporting and communication channels with the consortium and local transition partner to support project oversight and transition planning.. Team Management and Transition Support: Negotiate with country leadership to deliver results and build local capacity. Where applicable, Oversee the progressive transition of project leadership and implementation responsibilities to local partners within the project timeline. Where transition is not relevant, lead the project closeout and ramp down activities. Foster a collaborative, results-oriented work environment, ensuring accountability and alignment with award-specific and consortium-wide goals.. Risk Management and Problem Solving: Identify potential risks to project implementation and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with senior-level leaders at the organization headquarters, country management team, other organizations and consortium partners as applicable, and local stakeholders. Address challenges promptly to maintain project timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.. Budget and Financial Accountability: Accountable for overall budgeting and ensuring program implementation costs are within the grant funding limitations for a large, multi-country grant. Further ensures that financial management of funds is within the appropriate legal compliance and corporate policy standards..
