The Senior Editorial Content Manager at CALSTART will play a key role in shaping and driving both programmatic and corporate editorial initiatives. We’re looking for a skilled writer and strategic thinker with a passion for sustainable transportation. The Editorial Content Manager will craft authoritative, engaging content—ranging from research reports to outreach and thought leadership materials—that supports CALSTART’s mission and advances our leadership in the clean transportation space. This role requires strong editorial judgment and cross-functional collaboration to lead a diverse range of publications and amplify our voice across channels. The Editorial Content Manger will report to the Senior Marketing Manager, Bus and will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.  ​ . Duties & Responsibilities. Content Leadership & Strategy. : Lead the development of high-quality written materials that enhance CALSTART’s credibility, drive media and partner engagement, and position the organization as a trusted thought leader. Develop and implement the publication strategy and editorial processes in alignment with CALSTART’s goals to increase brand awareness, visibility, and influence.   . Writing & Editorial Excellence. : Apply exceptional writing and editing skills to help subject matter experts communicate their insights with clarity and creativity. Shape compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborate on data visualizations and infographics to strengthen storytelling. Own organizational style guide to support editorial consistency and brand voice.   . Publication Oversight. : Manage the full lifecycle of editorial deliverables—including white papers, reports, blogs, briefs, one-pagers, and tear sheets. Oversee timelines, editorial standards, and production workflows across multiple simultaneous projects.   . Team Collaboration. : Partner with program teams, marketing and communications staff, and external contributors to meet content and outreach needs. Coordinate with authors and subject matter experts to ensure editorial quality and consistency.   . Newsletter Management. : Serve as Editor-in-Chief for member and industry-facing newsletters, curating timely and relevant industry news, updates, and perspectives.   . Project Planning & Reporting. : Develop and maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar and milestones timeline. Define and track success metrics for editorial projects and continuously optimize performance. Collaborate with the broader Marketing and Communications teams on integrated campaigns and with internal clients to deliver clear, results-driven content strategies.. Qualifications. Years of experience: ​5-7 years​ professional experience. ​​Exceptional writing skills across formats and audiences; fluency in AP, Chicago, or other style guides.   . Ability to translate complex topics—economic, tech, manufacturing, climate, and policy—into clear, engaging content.   . Proven experience developing and executing publication strategies, managing multiple projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.   . Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present results and insights using clear metrics and reporting.. Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Marketing, Journalism—or equivalent experience.   . Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at juggling deadlines and priorities.   . Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to bring structure to evolving workflows.   . Creative thinker with a passion for sustainability and clean transportation. ​ . $85,000 - $97,000 a year. CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $85,000 - $97,000. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job. .
