Senior Platform Engineer. will be an expert in infrastructure and developer tooling initiatives across Gametime’s platform. This person will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining core platform systems that support Gametime’s high-scale, cloud-native architecture. This role requires deep fluency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), container orchestration, CI/CD principles, and developer experience optimization. They will work extensively with Kubernetes (AWS EKS) as well as various other AWS services, and do so using automation such as Terraform and Terragrunt to support microservice-based applications in multiple environments.. Key Responsibilities:. Outline the core duties and expectations for the position. These should reflect tasks directly tied to organizational objectives.. Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and observable infrastructure across AWS using Terraform and Terragrunt. Lead and contribute to Kubernetes (EKS) infrastructure supporting microservices running at scale. Build and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions to support automated builds, tests, deployments, and rollbacks. Develop internal tooling and self-service interfaces that reduce friction and empower developers. Define and enforce best practices around Infrastructure as Code, containerization, and cloud security. Participate in and lead architectural reviews, infrastructure planning, and incident retrospectives. Mentor and support other engineers on platform architecture, tooling, and cloud infrastructure. Containerization & Orchestration:. Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes (EKS), including deployment, networking, and scaling. CI/CD Automation:. Advanced configuration of GitHub Actions, and familiarity with progressive release mechanisms (such as canary, blue/green, etc) and rollback strategies. Observability:. Hands-on experience with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools for metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting. Interpersonal Skills:. Team Collaboration:. Works cross-functionally with Security, IT, and Product Engineering to deliver scalable solutions. Mentorship:. Coaches peers and shares platform expertise through code reviews, docs, pairing, and internal demos. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:. Architecture Mindset:. Designs resilient systems and proactively addresses reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Root Cause Thinking:. Investigates and resolves infrastructure and service issues systematically, not symptomatically. Minimum Qualifications:. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience. Experience:. 7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps-related roles supporting public cloud platforms. Certifications:. Other Requirements:. Proficient with AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform). Experienced with Kubernetes administration. Skilled in CI/CD and automation (GitHub Actions or equivalent). Familiar with observability best practices and platforms like Datadog and Grafana. Preferred Qualifications:. Reduce P99 response time for multiple EKS services compared to measured ECS response times. Enhance internal developer experience.
